LONDON: Prince Charles yesterday married Camilla Parker Bowles after a civil ceremony at Windsor Guildhall.
The bride, 57, and groom, 56, smiled and waved to crowds as they left the venue after the brief service, attended by close family and friends.
The wedding was delayed for 24 hours after Prince Charles had to attend the funeral of Pope John Paul II in Rome.
Camilla wore a cream dress and hat for the ceremony, while Charles was dressed in a morning suit.
The Queen and Prince Philip did not attend the civil ceremony but hosted a blessing service later at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.
Camilla, who divorced her first husband Andrew Parker Bowles in 1995, will take the title Duchess of Cornwall. She will not be known as Princess of Wales, a title still strongly associated with Charles’s first wife, the late Diana, Princess of Wales.
Charles and Camilla first met more than 30 years ago but their relationship was interrupted when Charles married Diana Spencer in 1981.
The couple rekindled their relationship in the late 1990s and announced their engagement earlier this year.

LONDON: As Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles exchanged vows yesterday at a civil ceremony at Windsor Guildhall, several Indians were among the select guests present.
Fashion designer Raghavendra Rathore, industrialist Lord Swaraj Paul and socialite Shobhaa De were among those invited.
For Span Mody, Moro and Raghu Mody, the wedding was especially memorable. “It was like a fairytale,” said one guest. “The atmosphere was warm and personal.”
The bride and groom appeared relaxed and happy as they greeted well-wishers after the ceremony.
Later, guests attended a service of prayer and dedication at St George’s Chapel, followed by a reception hosted by the Queen at Windsor Castle.
Camilla wore a pale blue chiffon dress and matching hat for the blessing ceremony, while Charles wore a dark suit.
Guests described the celebrations as dignified yet intimate, reflecting the couple’s long journey together.
